I mean, no surprise there; they usually are, but this time, the conversation feels more medical than cosmetic. As of Tuesday, January 27, reports confirmed that 15 drugs, including Botox Cosmetic, were selected for the latest round of the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program. Together, the drugs selected for this round of negotiations represent roughly $27 billion in total prescription drug spending, making them some of the most costliest medications covered by Medicare. “For too long, seniors and taxpayers have paid the price for skyrocketing prescription drug costs,” said Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “CMS is taking strong action to target the most expensive drugs in Medicare, negotiate fair prices and make sure the system works for patients—not special interests. This approach delivers real savings while strengthening accountability across the program.”
