But dermatologists have increasingly emphasized that psoriasis is not just skin-deep. It is closely linked to systemic inflammation and metabolic health. New research suggests that treating both at the same time may lead to better outcomes. In a 36-week phase 3b study sponsored by Eli Lilly, patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who were also overweight or obese received the biologic Taltz either alone or in combination with the GLP-1 medication Zepbound. The combination performed significantly better. More than 27 percent of patients achieved complete skin clearance and lost at least 10 percent of their body weight, compared with 6 percent of patients treated with Taltz alone.
