Thick textures, chalky finishes and the dreaded white cast made many formulas frustrating to wear, especially under makeup or on deeper skin tones. But lately, the industry has been responding with a wave of new formulas designed to disappear into the skin rather than sit visibly on top of it. The demand for invisible SPF has grown dramatically. According to Spate, sunscreen overall has seen a 2.5 million year-over-year increase in search interest, with much of that growth driven by shoppers looking specifically for formulas that don’t leave residue.
