We spotted several retro hair looks on the 2026 Academy Awards red carpet, from bixies to big, bouncy blowouts. Watching some of our favorite stars reinvent these classics and lean into styles that stand the test of time was a highlight. Ahead, check out some of the standout hairstyles of the night. The bixie—a bob meets pixie hybrid—was huge in the 90s, from Meg Ryan to Cameron Diaz. Abrams wore the cut perfectly styled, with an edgy side sweep. Nominee Teyana Taylor’s wavy pixie cut reminds us of the haircut Halle Berry wore during the ’90s and early 2000s, including while winning an Oscar in 2002.
