Published: May 12, 2026 Medicare beneficiaries may soon have a much more affordable path to GLP-1 medications. Starting July 1, 2026, eligible enrollees can access drugs like Wegovy and Zepbound for a flat $50 monthly copay through a new pilot initiative called the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program. According to a release by the Center for Medicare and Medicade Services, the program runs through December 31, 2027, and is designed to bridge the gap while a longer-term coverage plan is worked out. To qualify, you must be enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan and meet certain health criteria, either a BMI of 27 or higher with a comorbidity like heart disease or prediabetes, or a BMI of 35 or higher regardless of other conditions.
