An unexpected source for injectables, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, which has locations across mid-California and northern Nevada, announced that it will begin offering services including neurotoxin injections, IV drips and, per The Wall Street Journal, fillers and laser hair removal. Though demand for aesthetic services has surged in recent years—with many more med spas popping up—Planned Parenthood isn’t the first place you’d think to visit for injectables. However, Stacy Cross, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, told the newspaper that this is a way for their facilities to remain open (they currently have 30 clinics). Though there’s strong competition in the space, offering services like these is seen as necessary as federal budget cuts continue to force Planned Parenthood affiliates to either close or pivot.
