As an ocean girl through and through, I understood the appeal on the most basic level: It did what the ocean already did best, giving my hair loose ringlets with almost no work beyond a quick towel-dry and a scrunch with my hands before letting it air-dry to beachy perfection. That was over a decade ago, and while sea salt spray was a non-negotiable in my routine back then, it eventually fell out of rotation for reasons I still can't quite explain—until now.
