But for summer 2026, hair color is continuing its move in a softer direction. Over the past several months, people have been gravitating toward more natural-looking shades, and this season is no different. “Clients are moving away from overly contrasting color and toward shades that feel softer and more dimensional,” says Los Angeles hair colorist and Schwarzkopf Professional U.S. Hair Color Trend Ambassador Jacob Schwartz. “Whether it's blond, brunette or red, people want color that enhances their natural features.”
